Meet Our Team

Our caring and compassionate veterinary care team.

Dr. Jim Collinsworth

Owner/Veterinarian

Dr. Collinsworth has over 35 years of experience in the veterinary field. He is a 1979 graduate of Kemp High School. He attended Texas A&M, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in both Biomedical Science (1983) and Veterinary Science (1986) and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. While receiving his veterinary training, Dr. Collinsworth worked in the Necropsy/Pathology Lab of Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory in College Station for 6 years. He has one daughter, Keleigh, who is currently following in her father’s footsteps attending Texas A&M working towards her doctrine in veterinary medicine. He also has 2 stepsons, Landon and Lance and is a proud grandpa to his only grandson, Jaxson. Dr. Collinsworth and his wife, Belva, reside in Seven Points where he is active in his church of Kemp. Becker Methodist Church of Kemp and the Kemp Education Foundation, among other civic duties. When Dr. Collinsworth isn’t busy tending to the clinic and his patients, you will probably find him on his farm tending to his cattle, land and enjoying his family time.

Belva Collinsworth

Owner/Practice Manager

Belva joined our team at Lakeside Animal Clinic in 2018 when she and her husband, Dr. Collinsworth officially purchased the clinic, but she’s been a part of our work family for much longer than that. She is the proud mother to twin sons, Lance and Landon and her stepdaughter, Keleigh. She is an adventurous, loyal and loving Christian woman. Along with her husband, she’s also an active member of the Becker Methodist Church of Kemp. Belva has a giving, nurturing, kind soul and her laughter is absolutely contagious. If Belva isn’t taking care of clinic business or planning our next team adventure, she loves spending her spare time with her grandson, Jaxson or helping tend to their land and gardening.

Our Veterinary Care Team

Dr. Haning

Veterinarian

Dr. Haning is a graduate of Kaufman High School, and went on to attend Stephen F. Austin State University receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Haning and her husband, TJ, reside in Gun Barrel City where they enjoy being a part of the local bowling leagues. She is an active member at her church, Cowboy Church of Ennis, and enjoys spending time with her family. Whenever she has the time, she likes to ride the boat out on the lake, going shopping, and of course, spoiling her fur babies.

Kyla Long

Veterinary/Pharmacy Technician

Kyla joined the Lakeside team in 2011. She is a great asset to the clinic as a knowledgeable veterinary technician as well as pharmacy inventory control. Kyla, her husband and their son live on acreage and have a small farm of cows, goats, and chickens… just to name a few.  In her free time she enjoys bowling, camping in their RV, hanging out with family/friends, and relaxing in her pool during the summer months.  Kyla is fun, caring, adventurous, and loves all animals. From the beach to the mountains, Kyla is always ready for an adventure in travel.

Cortney Crapanzano

Veterinary Technician

Cortney joined the Lakeside family in 2021. She came to us from another veterinary clinic; we were lucky to add her smiling face and prior vet tech experience to our staff.  Her favorite color is lime green which ironically describes her personality to a T. She’s competitive, adventurous and all around goofy and fun. In her spare time she likes working out, practicing the sport of the season with her kids and taking her dogs on hiking trails during family campouts. Although Cortney loves all animals, she has a special love for the Pitbull breed (she has 3 of her own). When she’s not busy with all of her fur babies, her boyfriend, Trey, and their 3 children fill her time with joy.

Amy Cravey

Veterinary Technician

Amy’s award winning smile and outstanding work ethic as a waitress made us recruit her to join our Lakeside team back as a technician in 2016. After her coffee of course, Amy enjoys cheering her kids on at sporting events, sunny days on the lake, riding ATV’s and gardening. Family time is also important to Amy- every Sunday her entire family gathers for dinner. If she’s not with family or enjoying an outdoor activity, you may just find her in a thrift shop somewhere looking for hidden treasures.

Alana Penny

Veterinary Technician

Alana began her journey with Lakeside Animal Clinic as a kennel tech in 2002. Over the years she transitioned to where her heart has always been… a vet tech still tending to the wonderful pets at the clinic. She loves spending time with family and friends, shopping, reading and crocheting. She also enjoys traveling (as long as it doesn’t involve a plane); the Grand Canyon has been her favorite place to experience so far. Alana also enjoys time with her church family and watching some of the classics like I Love Lucy and Dirty Dancing. And although she loves all animals, cats are always the quickest to steal Alana’s heart.

Dorothy Bess

Office Associate

Dorothy joined Lakeside Animal Clinic in 1996 as a receptionist. She now helps the clinic out with various office duties such as scanning and filing, all tedious and still very important tasks to help with the clinic’s functionality. She comes from a large, loving family (she was the 5th of 8 children). In her spare time, Dorothy enjoys sitting on her porch swing listening and watching the birds and the beautiful Texas sunsets over Cedar Creek Lake. She also enjoys her church family, gardening, shopping estate sales and eating Mexican food.  Dorothy loves all animals and especially her 6 precious kitty cats. However, if she was to be reincarnated, Dorothy just knows she’d come back as a bird, flying free.

Shylee McDonald

Kennel Technician/Technician Assistant

Shylee recently joined the Lakeside team in 2022. Her love for animals had her working at a local animal shelter which is where we found her. She is patient, kind, and extremely helpful as she’s pulled all around the clinic to assist our doctors and technicians. She’s also a great addition to our boarding staff caring for our boarding pets.  If Shylee isn’t busy helping take care of pets at the clinic, she enjoys watching TV, online shopping and of course playing with her own spoiled fur babies at home.

Katie Hyde

Veterinary Technician

Katie has been with Lakeside Animal Clinic since 2008. Her wealth of knowledge in the veterinary tech field is extremely helpful to our many clients as well as the staff at Lakeside. Katie is dedicated, big hearted and quite the “handy” woman at home and around the clinic. In her spare time Katie is extremely crafty, enjoys church activities and hanging out with family and friends. If you can’t find Katie, she’s probably somewhere in the back painting, building a shelf or relocating some kennel cages. But as much as Katie enjoys projects and staying busy, she also enjoys herself some spa time! You know what they say… work hard, play harder.
